Mrs. Wilk's Class

Dear Second Grader,

I am so excited that you are going to be part of our second grade class this year!  I hope you had a wonderful summer.

We have a lot of learning and fun in store this year!  In second grade, you will develop as a reader and a writer.  In writing, you will write a "small moment" story, create an informational book and learn poetry.  We will read a lot of books!  You will continue to grow as a reader this year through all the reading you will do.  In math, we will learn how to count money, tell time, solve word problems and add and subtract large numbers.  In science, there will be a lot of fun experiments.  We will learn about solids, liquids and gasses, as well as soil and insects.  In social studies, we will study landforms and communities.

On the first day of school, please bring an item that will help the class get to know you.  It could be a photograph of you doing something you enjoy, a trophy you won, an item from a hobby you do, or anything else that will tell us more about you!

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I look forward to seeing you in September!!

Your teacher,

Mrs. Wilk
